The Amherst School Board announces a unique leadership opportunity for a year-long mentoring experience with the present Clark-Wilkins Principal. The Amherst School Board is committed to a leadership succession plan to hire a strong, dedicated, and highly motivated outstanding educational leader to work in partnership with the current principal prior to his retirement at the end of the 2017- 2018 school year. On July 1, 2018, the selected candidate will then assume the role of Principal and lead the PreK-4 staff and students of the Clark-Wilkins Elementary School.  Current Leadership as an Assistant / Associate Principal or Principal.  Salary is highly competitive (commensurate with qualifications and experience), and includes a comprehensive benefits package.


  • Current Leadership role as an Assistant/Associate Principal
  • Master’s or CAGS Degree in Administration, School Leadership or Education
  • NH DOE Principal #0003 or Associate Principal #0007 Certification
  • Demonstrated success as a department or curriculum chair or coordinator
  • Five years minimum experience teaching at the elementary level
The successful leader will be well-grounded in elementary curriculum, assessment and staff professional development; an advocate for high quality regular and special education programs; skilled at supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff; well organized and collaborative managerial skills; good working knowledge of budgets, contractual/legal obligations, and technology. Excellent communication skills, accessible, well-developed collaborative skills with other educators, students, their families, and the community are essential.
The associate principal will work in partnership to manage all educational, personnel, fiscal and operational matters to promote an effective and supportive learning climate. The associate principal will also participate as a member of the administrative leadership team of SAU 39.

As an Instructional Leader, the Associate Principal will be able to demonstrate:

  • Shaping a school wide vision of commitment to high standards and the success of all students.
  • Creating a climate hospitable to education where students feel responded to and supported.
  • Cultivating leadership in others and distributing opportunities for leadership and decision-making within and across the organization.
  • Deeply committing to improving instruction.
  • Managing people, data, and processes.
