Amherst Building & Grounds Committee

The Amherst Building and Grounds Committee will monitor and make recommendations regarding facility capital improvement needs in the Amherst School District.  The committee will work closely with the Director of Facilities, Business Administrator and Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent on the following: 

  • Understand the state of buildings and grounds in the Amherst School District relative to life cycle, operation, and function

  • Make recommendations regarding phasing, funding and prioritization of capital maintenance projects 

REQUEST FOR PARTICIPATION - AMHERST BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE

Amherst School Board is looking to fill two vacancies on the buildings and grounds committee. The Board is seeking Amherst residents looking to bring their life experience to make recommendations on future facility plans. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the schools and make a positive impact on the future of Amherst facilities.

The Board will officially nominate two community members during the July 9 school board retreat. Applications are due no later than Tuesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. 

Interested candidates must be an Amherst resident and should submit a letter of interest to the Board with the following information:

  • Number of years you have lived in Amherst
  • Do you currently have or have you had children in the Amherst/Souhegan? (Having children currently or formerly in-district is NOT a requirement.)
  • Relevant civic experience, if applicable (school board, select board, or other elected office; finance/budget committees; consulting work; etc.)
  • Relevant work experience (does not need to be limited to facility management/construction; could include project management, work in the public sector, loan/financing experience, etc.)
  • Reason you wish to be involved in Building & Grounds
  • Familiarity with recent facility work conducted or proposed on Amherst buildings, or areas of focus you'd like to see buildings and grounds discuss
  • Additional relevant information that will allow you to have an impact on the committee

Professional/personal resumes are welcome but not required. 

After the July 2 deadline, two board members will review all applicants and make a recommendation for the full board vote on July 9.
